Men's Golf to Compete at Firestone Invitational

AKRON, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team continues its 2019 fall schedule with the Firestone Invitational, Sept. 30-Oct. 1, at the Firestone Country Club.
The 15-team tournament includes: Akron, Bowling Green,Dartmouth, Dayton, Drexel, Eastern Michigan, IUPUI, Old Dominion, Ohio, Santa Clara, South Carolina Aiken, Temple, William & Mary, Winthrop and Youngstown State.
The course will be set up as a par 72, playing a distance of 7,125 yards. It will consist of 36 holes on Monday, Sept. 30, and 18 holes Tuesday, Oct. 1. Play will begin at 8:30 a.m. ET on both days, with the second round played immediately following the conclusion of the first round on Monday.
Eastern last competed in the event in 2018, as it finish tied for third-place with Ohio University. The Eagles tallied a final round 286 to wrap up the event with a two-day total of 859 (286-287-286). The University of Akron won the tournament with a 857 (286-285-286), while Furman University was second with a 858 (286-285-287). Ty Celone (Long Sault, Ontario, Canada-St Joseph's Catholic) finished as the tournament's runner-up with a two-day score of seven-under 209 (70-69-70).
