This is the most incoming freshmen for EMU since 2002

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University Gymnastics Head Coach Katie Minasola announced the addition of four gymnasts to the 2020 roster, Monday, June 26, in Danielle Coyne (Fort Collins, Colo.-Fossil Ridge), Hannah Hartung (Lincoln, Neb.-Lincoln East), Arileyah Harris (Katy, Tex.-Katy), and Corey Melcher (Ypsilanti, Mich.-Saline).

"I am really excited to add Hannah, Arileyah, Corey, and Dani to next year's team," said Minasola. "The talent, work ethic, and drive among these four will add great value to our program. They will each bring something special to our team dynamic."

The four will be joining the trio of early signees, Hadyn Crossen (Carmel, Ind.-Carmel), Molly Parris (Hudson, Ohio-Hudson), and Mickayla Stuckey (Union City, Ind.-Indiana Connection Academy) to round off the class.  The group marks the largest incoming class for EMU since 2002, where the team also brought in seven freshmen.

Hailing from Fort Collins, Colo., Coyne was selected as an alternate to the 2018 USAG Nationals. Coyne  competed in all-around at the 2018 Colorado State Championships, and the 2018 Region 3 Championships.

Hartung, coming to Eastern from Lincoln, Neb., will provide depth to the bars and beam lineups, as she won the Nebraska State Bar Championship, as well as the Regional Beam Championship. Hartung is a four-time National Qualifier.

Another newcomer looking to add to the bars lineup, Harris won a level 9 Texas State Bar Championship. The Katy, Tex. native also earned level 10 state and regional qualifications.

A native of Ypsilanti, Mich., Melcher will provide depth in all areas, having placed second at the level 10 Buckeye Classic in the all-around competition. Melcher qualified for level 10 regionals three times, as well as won the level 9 Regional Vault Championship.
