Eagles Notch Four Podium Efforts in Final Day at Jesse Owens Classic

EMU took home second in the 4x100-meter relay, triple jump, 100m, and 200m

COLUMBUS, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team recorded four silver medal performances on the last day at the Jesse Owens Classic hosted by the Ohio State University Saturday, April 27. EMU saw success in a multitude of events, taking home podium finishes in the 4x100-meter relay, triple jump, 100m, and 200m.
The Green and White kicked off Saturday with a second-place mark in the 4x100 relay, as sophomore Owen Richardson (Basingstoke, England), junior Sean Beckom II (Saginaw, Mich.-Heritage) and Terrell Posada (Naples, Fla.-Naples High), and senior Tyler Underwood (Clinton, Mich.-Clinton) raced to a time of 40.64, besting relay squads from Miami University and Michigan State University.
EMU then continued Saturday's successes on the track as Posada and Underwood earned individual second-place finishes in the 100m and 200m, respectively. Posada, the Mid-American Conference's 100m leader, finished just .03 seconds behind his career-best performance, crossing the finish line in 10.31, while Underwood recorded a personal best time of 20.94 in the 200m. Underwood continues to lead the MAC in the event, besting his previous top effort by .07 seconds. Posada also saw success in the 200m, finishing fifth with a time of 21.54.
In the field events, senior Micah Peters (York, Ontario-Vaughn Road Academy) snagged the Eagles' lone second-place mark in the field events, finishing second in the triple jump with a leap of 14.74m. The leap is his season's top mark by almost .5 meters, and the sixth-best performance by a MAC athlete this outdoor campaign.
Overall, the Eagles recorded seven top-five finishes throughout the day, as seniors Alex Jacobs (Dublin, Ohio-Dublin Jerome) and Cameron Hart (Columbus, Ohio-Bishop Hartley) and junior Carlos Sanchez Juan (Onil, Spain-Ies La Creueta) shined in the pole vault, high jump, and long jump, respectively. Jacobs' finished fourth overall in the pole vault, matching his career-best clearance of 5.06m, while Hart cleared 2.00m in the high jump and Sanchez Juan marked a leap of 7.06m in the long jump.
EMU has one more competition on its schedule before the Mid-American Conference Championships, May 9-11, participating in the Len Paddock Open hosted by the University of Michigan Friday, May 3.
