The distance duo will compete in 3000m Steeplechase, 5000m, and 1500m
AZUSA, Calif. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team sends two runners to Azusa, Calif. to compete in the Bryan Clay Invitational April 18-19.
The Green and White send senior captain Sydney Meyers (Zionsville, Ind.-Zionsville Community) and redshirt junior Emily Smith (Somerset, England-Wells Cathedral School) to compete at the Memorial Invitational. Smith competes in the 3000m Steeplechase and Meyers runs in the 5000m on Thursday, while both runners will compete in Friday's 1500m event.
The Eagles last competed at the Tennesee Relays April 11-13, where Meyers competed in the 1500m against the nation's top talent in Knoxville, Tenn. Meyers finished her race in eighth, completing the 1500m in 4:28.55, the sixth-best effort in the league during the 2019 outdoor campaign.
