Iverson and Salzbrunn Kick Off Competition at Tennessee Relays

Iverson sits in 12th place while Salzbrunn holds 16th after four events

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (EMUEagles.com) –
Heptathlon athletes junior Gianna Salzbrunn (North Aurora, Ill.-Montini Catholic) and freshman Morgan Iverson (Hoschton, Ga.-Mill Creek) began the Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team's stint at the Tennessee Relays hosted by the University of Tennessee Thursday, April 11. 

After the 100m Hurdles, High Jump, Shot Put, and 200m events, Iverson sits in 12th place with 2821 points, while Salzbrunn sits in 16th with 2703 points.

Both Eagles began their day with the 100m Hurdles, as Iverson took 14th with a career-best time of 14.99 and Salzbrunn recorded her top-collegiate effort for a 15th place, earning a time of 15.89. The day continued with the High Jump, where the North Aurora, Ill. native cleared 1.56m, while the Hoschton, Ga. product cleared 1.50m for 12th and 17th place, respectively.

The Green and White's student-athletes then competed in the Shot Put, with Iverson placing 10th overall with a heave of 10.17m and Salzbrunn earning 14th place, clearing 9.60m. To close out the day's competitions, both Iverson and Salzbrunn notched career-best efforts in the 200m dash with times 25.79 and 26.16, respectively.
