EMU earned two top-50 finishes in San Marcos and Austin

SAN MARCOS, Texas/AUSTIN, Texas (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team wrapped up its first of three days of competition in Texas March 28, participating in the Texas Relays hosted by the University of Texas and the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Texas State University.
The Eagles saw two top-50 finishes on their first efforts in the Lone Star State, as sophomore Kadian Clarke (Kingston, Jamaica- Immaculate Conception) and Tiffany Cernej-Garcia (Ann Arbor, Mich.-Pioneer) finished 40th and 41st in their respective events.
Clarke competed in the Discus Throw at the Bobcat Invitational, earning a 40th-place finish with a heave of 33.60m. Cernej-Garcia finished 41st in the 400-meter Hurdles at the Texas Relays, besting tracksters from the University of Akron, the University of Houston, and the University of Texas with a career-best time of 1:03.80.
Also competing in the 400m Hurdles was freshman Morgan Iverson (Hoschton, Ga.-Mill Creek), recording an 82nd-place effort with a time of 1:17.40.
EMU continues competition in Texas Friday, March 29, running in the 4x100m relay preliminary heats at the Texas Relays beginning at 9:30 a.m. CT.
