YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — With spring practice in full swing for the Eastern Michigan University football team, seniors from the 2018 class worked out for professional scouts at the EMU Indoor Practice Facility Friday, March 22.
More than 17 scouts from the National Football League (NFL) and the Canadian Football League (CFL) visited for the event, allowing the former EMU players to showcase their talents in drills and exercises that mirror the NFL Scouting Combine.
The prospects were timed in the 40-yard dash, 20 and 60-yard shuttles, and three-cone drill before going through position work. Other measurable drills held earlier in the day included the bench press, broad jump, and vertical jump. The prospects also went through a flexibility test and had their height, weight, hand width, arm length, and wing span measured by personnel from NFL teams.
Participating in the pro day drills were Ka'John Armstrong, Blake Banham, Maxx Crosby, Jeremiah Harris, Jeremy Hickey, Joshuwa Holloman, Tyler LaBarbera, Justin Moody, Jaylen Pickett, Kyle Rachwal, Dakota Tallman, Tyler Wiegers, and Ross Williams.
The 13 players hope to hear their name called over the three-day span of the 2019 NFL Draft, April 25-27. EMU has had players selected in two of the last two drafts, Darius Jackson in 2016 and Pat O'Connor in 2017. Those who are undrafted will look to join the likes of Sergio Bailey II, Cole Gardner, Bronson Hill, Brogan Roback, Andrew Wylie, as recent players who have made NFL rosters as undrafted free agents.
Eastern is in full swing for spring practice, which will culminate in the annual spring game Saturday, April 13. The action is set to start at 3 p.m. on the gray turf inside Rynearson Stadium.
