Richardson and Underwood Earn Top-10 Marks at Music City Challenge

EMU was one of two universities with two runners finishing in top-10 of the 400m
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (EMUEagles.com) – Sophomore Owen Richardson (Basingstoke, England) and senior Tyler Underwood (Clinton, Mich.-Clinton) represented the Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team at the Music City Challenge hosted by Vanderbilt University, Saturday, Feb. 9. The two sprinters competed in the 400m, both earning top-10 finishes, with Underwood earning a second-place finish and Richardson placing ninth.
Underwood's time of 46.91 was just .001 seconds behind the event's winner, DaShawn Morris, from University of Maryland. The senior is currently tied for 24th in the NCAA in the 400m with his 46.65 time at last weekend's Meyo Invitational, Feb. 1-2. Richardson crossed the finish line in 47.60 at the Music City Challenge, .4 seconds behind his career-best time also set at the Meyo Invitational. The sophomore is ranked 55th in the country in the middle-distance sprint.
Saturday's competition completed the Eagles' 2018-19 indoor regular season. EMU will participate in the 2019 MAC Indoor Championship Feb. 22-23, hosted by Kent State University. When available, the schedule for the conference championship can be found on the Men's Track and Field page on EMUEagles.com.
