Men's Cross Country Honored as USTFCCCA All-Academic Team

Eagles are one of 195 men's programs to earn the distinction

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University men's cross country team was named a Division I All-Academic Team by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the group announced Thursday, Feb. 14. 

"I am proud of these Student-Athletes for this honor and appreciative of all Professors and Academic Staff involved with their success," said Head Men's Cross Country and Track and Field coach John Goodridge.  

A total of 427 Division I squads earned All-Academic distinction, 195 of which were men's programs. To earn the distinction, teams must hold a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. 

EMU recorded a cumulative 3.61 GPA throughout the season and were one of six Mid-American Conference programs to receive the honor, along with the University of Akron, Bowling Green State University, University at Buffalo, Central Michigan University, and Ohio University.

The Eagles' 2018-19 campaign saw the team earn five top-10 team finishes throughout the season along with a seventh place finish at the MAC Cross Country Championship meet and a 16th place mark at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional meet. Furthermore, the Green and White took home two top finishes, at both the Toledo Rockets Invitational, Aug. 31, and the Jayhawk Invitational, Oct. 12.
