YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team opened its three-game homestand with a 67-54 setback to Kent State University, Wednesday night, Feb. 13, inside the Convocation Center.

EMU (10-12, 3-8 MAC) held a 10-7 edge over KSU (13-9, 6-5 MAC) with fewer than four minutes left in the opening quarter, but the Golden Flashes pulled away by closing out the first half on a 30-14 run and surrendered.

Sophomore Autumn Hudson (Richwood, Ohio-North Union) paced EMU with a career-high 13 points while pulling down seven boards, including four on the offensive end. Fellow sophomore Courtnie Lewis (Belton, Mo.-Belton) added 12 points and five rebounds, while redshirt sophomore Corrione Cardwell (Cleveland, Ohio-New Tech East) notched 10 points and led the Green and White with eight boards, five assists, and five steals in a stat-stuffing effort.

While both programs shot 40 percent from downtown, EMU finished 32.8 percent (20-of-61) from the floor, while KSU ended the night with a 41.5 percent (22-of-53) efficiency. The Eagles matched the Golden Flashes with 22 points in the paint and tallied 19 points off turnovers, but were narrowly out-rebounded by the visitors, 41-37.

Lewis knocked down a triple on EMU's first possession, but KSU responded with seven unanswered points to jump ahead, 7-3, with 7:44 to go in the opening frame. The Eagles reclaimed the lead later in the period, using a 7-0 run of their own to build a 10-7 advantage with 4:22 remaining in the first quarter.

EMU kept KSU off the board for nearly four and a half minutes during the first period, but the Golden Flashes fought back with a 14-3 run en route to a 40-24 heading into the break.

Redshirt senior Danielle Minott's (Miami, Fla.-Miami Country Day (Syracuse)) corner three capped a 7-2 run to begin the second half as EMU closed the deficit to 42-31 with 7:54 remaining in the third period. The Eagles scored the first four points of the final frame, but KSU ballooned its lead to 19 with 4:03 left in regulation. Freshman Natalia Pineda (Miami, Fla.-John A. Ferguson) sank a corner three as part of a late 8-2 run, but the Golden Flashes' first-half run proved too much to overcome as the Green and White fell, 67-54.

Eastern Michigan remains at home for a MAC West clash against Ball State University. Tipoff between the Eagles and Cardinals is slated for 2 p.m. inside the Convocation Center.
