CHICAGO, Ill. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team hits the road for a midweek, non-conference affair with the University of Illinois at Chicago Wednesday, Dec.18. Tipoff from Credit Union 1 Arena is slated for 8 p.m. (7 p.m. CT).
Eastern (3-6) got back in the win column with a commanding 64-40 victory over Purdue Fort Wayne, Dec. 10, at the Convocation Center. The win was the first for EMU since claiming its game against Southeast Missouri, Nov. 19. Meanwhile, UIC (1-9) looks for just its second win of the season. The Flames were bested by Valparaiso in their most recent contest, falling 63-37, Dec. 15.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN3. Fans can also follow live stats at EMUEagles.com/livestats, or get live updates from the team's Twitter, @EMUWBB.

A WIN WOULD...: A win would give Eastern its first on the road this season. The Eagles are 0-4 away from home in 2019-20, dropping contests at Michigan State (Nov. 5), Youngstown State (Nov. 16), Binghamton (Dec. 1), and Wichita State (Dec. 7).

KIARA CASHING IN: Sophomore Kiara Johnson offered her best performance of the 2019-20 season to-date against Purdue Fort Wayne, Dec. 10. The Buffalo, N.Y. native shot a team-best 86 percent (6-of-7) from the floor en route to scoring a season-best 13 points. Johnson also hauled in four boards, and recorded two blocks.

THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES: The 100th win in EMU history came against Illinois-Chicago. Then-head coach Kathy Hart led the Eagles to a 65-62 triumph against the Flames in the Windy City, Dec. 17, 1983.

AALIYAH DOES IT ALL: Freshman Aaliyah Stanley continues to impress on the court, most recently against Purdue Fort Wayne, Dec. 10. Stanley authored a 13-point, eight rebound performance against the Mastodons. The effort marked Stanley's sixth double-digit scoring game of the season, and the first in which she led the team in rebounding. The Boynton Beach, Fla. native ranks first on the team and fourth in the MAC with a .397 shooting percentage from deep, and is second on the squad and 14th in the league in scoring (13.1 ppg).

UNDER 50, AGAIN!: In Eastern Michigan's game against Purdue Fort Wayne, EMU held its opponent to 50-or-fewer points for the 115th time in program history. The Eagles are 112-2 all-time when holding the opposition below the 50-point mark.

SHARING THE ROCK: Five Eagles dished out multiple assists against Purdue Fort Wayne, Dec. 10. Sophomore Natalia Pineda led the way with three helpers. Overall, EMU has racked up 94 assists, good for a 10.4 assist-per-game average, well above the team's 2018-19 average of 9.9 per game.

FACING THE FLAMES: Eastern Michigan and Illinois-Chicago have met 13 times ahead of Wednesday's tilt. EMU leads the all-time series, 9-4, but UIC has won two of the previous three meetings.
Last season, it was the Eagles that came out on top, earning a 52-38 victory over the Flames, Nov. 27, inside the Convocation Center.

AGAINST THE HORIZON: EMU owns a 59-44 record against current Horizon League foes. Home to UIC and nine other institutions, the Eagles have battled all but one of the members of the Indianapolis, Ind.-based conference (IUPUI).
Given the proximity, it comes as no surprise that EMU has squared off against Detroit Mercy more than any other Horizon League opponent, with 27 meetings taking place between the two all-time. While Eastern trails in the all-time series, 15-13, against Detroit Mercy, EMU holds the upper hand versus Cleveland State (12-5), Illinois-Chicago (9-4), Valparaiso (5-3), Wright State (7-0), and Youngstown State (4-2). The Green and White sit level with Oakland (7-7) and Milwaukee (2-2) all-time, and are winless in the all-time series against Green Bay (0-5).

ALL THE LEAGUES EMU WILL FACE: The Eagles will play teams hailing from eight different Division I conferences this season. In addition to its 18-game Mid-American Conference slate, EMU will face three Horizon League members, two teams from the Big Ten Conference, as well as one opponent from the Missouri Valley Conference, Ohio Valley Conference, America East Conference, American Athletic Conference, and the Summit League.

ON THE HORIZON: Eastern is back on the road for a weekend matchup with its I-94 rival, the University of Detroit Mercy Saturday, Dec. 21. The game is set to begin at 12 p.m., inside historic Calihan Hall.
