11/21/2019 12:29:00 PM | Women's XC

She will become the first runner in program history to compete at four consecutive national meets

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University women's cross country graduate student Natalie Cizmas (Clinton Twp., Mich.-Chippewa Valley) is set to represent the Eagles at the NCAA Championships, Saturday, Nov. 23, in Terre Haute, Ind.

Cizmas secured an individual bid to the national meet after finishing a career-best 10th place at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional with a time of 20:33.3, Nov. 15. She will become the first Eagle in program history to compete at four consecutive title races, after she and Sydney Meyers were the first EMU harriers to appear in three national meets last season.

Should Cizmas claim a top-40 finish in the final race of her collegiate career, she will become the third NCAA All-American in program history, joining Donna Donakowski (28th-1987) and Jordann McDermitt (24th-2016). In all, this is the 12th time that EMU has been represented at the NCAA Championships, and sixth time in the last seven years.

The national meet marks the second time that Cizmas will race at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course this season. She recorded the Green and White's fastest time at the Under Armour Pre-National Invitational, Oct. 19, placing 25th as she crossed the finish line at 20:41.5.

The women's 6K race is scheduled to start at 11:15 a.m., followed by the men's 10K race at 12:15 p.m.
