– The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team was dropped by Mid-American Conference rival Western Michigan University, tonight, Nov. 2. The Eagles were defeated by the Broncos in four high-scoring sets, 26-28, 23-25, 26-24,19-25, respectively.

Despite the outcome, it was a special night for four individual Eagles. Seniors Camille Schomer (Rochester, Mich.-Oakland Christian), Riley Taylor (Indianapolis, Ind.-Perry Meridian), Ariel Hamby (Oak Park, Ill.-Oak Forest), and Cassie Haut (Monroe, Mich.-St. Mary Catholic Central) were honored with a pre-match ceremony to celebrate their Eagle careers and accomplishments, highlighted by a MAC Tournament Championship, in 2018.

An offensive battle, Taylor wrangled in 55 assists, marking the fourth time she has accumulated 50+ assists in a match this season. The Indianapolis native also gathered 12 digs, notching her 11th double-double of the season. Hamby also had an efficient night, contributing with a .286 hitting percentage and three kills.

Schomer registered 25 digs on the night, bringing her season total to 410. Haut also gave the Broncos fits as she recorded three solo blocks and two block-assists. The Monroe, Mich. native put on an impressive offensive display as she led the team in kills (19) and points (23).

Western Michigan outhit the Eagles .227 to .217 and out-blocked EMU 12-to-nine. The Green and White were able to out-dig the Broncos 86-to-76.

For the remainder of the regular season, Eastern Michigan will be on the road. On Thursday, Nov. 7, the Eagles will take on Central Michigan University at 7 p.m. Following the trek north, EMU will travel south to challenge Kent State University, Saturday, Nov. 9, at 5 p.m.
