Men's Cross Country Makes Debut at Paul Short Run

Magnusson posted EMU's best time for the second consecutive race
BETHLEHEM, Pa. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's cross country team competed in the 46th annual Paul Short Run Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course, finishing in 14th place with a team total of 414 points.
"Paul Short is a very unique, challenging race due to the size of the field and course design," said head coach John Goodridge. "This was a great cross country experience for us that will help our continuing development."
The Green and White defeated one program ranked in the USTFCCCA National Coaches Poll, as No. 23 Iona placed 19th with a team total of 600 points. Sophomore Baldvin Magnusson (Hull, England-Hull University) led the Eagles for the second time in as many races, finishing the 8K event in 28th with a time of 23:56.8. Fellow Sophomore Eddie Zuercher (Rocky River, Ohio-Rocky River) also cracked the top-40 as he concluded the meet in at 24:06.4 to earn 38th place.
From there, sophomore Andy Payne (Worthington, Ohio-Thomas Worthington) took 107th place after crossing the line at 24:37.2, while juniors Solomon Costa (Gahanna, Ohio-Gahanna Lincoln) and Owen Day (Ottawa, Ontario-International School of Dusseldorf) concluded the race with times of 24:43.8 and 24:48.3, respectively.
Eastern will go competition-free next weekend before returning to Terre Haute, Ind. to take part in the 2019 Under Armour Pre-National Invitational, Oct. 19.
