Tennis Completes Fall Competition at ITA Midwest Regional

The team was led by Marie Mayerova's two-win weekend
EAST LANSING, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University tennis team hit the courts for the final competition of its 2019 fall schedule when it traveled to nearby Michigan State University for the ITA Midwest Regional, Oct. 17-20.
The team showed improvement against a heavy-hitting field, ultimately winning three matches on the weekend. In the singles qualifying draw, it was Marie Mayerova (Krmelin, Czech Republic) that impressed, winning each of her first two matches. Her straight-set first round win, 6-4, 6-3, was followed by an impressive three-set win, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3.
Elsewhere, newcomer Emma-Lou Pommiers (Aire sur I'Adour, France-Saint Dominique Pau) was able to claim consolation victory with a thrilling tiebreak win over Bowling Green's Ayumi Sasaki, 0-6, 6-3 (11-9).
