Eastern Rallies, but Ultimately Falls to Bowling Green in Five Sets

Three Eagles set new career-highs
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team fell to Bowling Green State University, 3-2, Oct. 19 at the Stroh Center.
The Falcons (11-9, 5-3 MAC) claimed the first two sets, 25-19 and 25-23. The Eagles (7-13, 2-6 MAC) then attempted a comeback, winning the third set 25-23 and fourth set 30-28 to tie the match at two sets each. In the fifth set, the Eagles and Falcons traded points until the sides reached 10, when Bowling Green pulled away for the win, 15-12.
Leading the Eagles was junior Riley Taylor (Indianapolis, Ind.-Perry Meridian), who set a new career-high with 64 assists and new season-high of 19 digs, while also tying her season-high with five kills. Taylor also recorded one of Eastern's three service aces.
Also setting career-highs tonight, freshman Alayna Jansky (Mukwonago, Wis.-Mukwonago) tallied a career-high 18 kills, while senior Camille Schomer (Rochester, Mich.-Oakland Christian) set a new career-high in digs with 36.
Also noteable for Eastern, Cassie Haut finished with 17 kills and three digs, while junior Franki Strefling (Niles, Mich.-Buchanan) collected 19 kills and 29 digs.
The Eagles return to the Convocation center for a MAC home weekend, hosting Buffalo Thursday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. and Akron Saturday, Oct. 26 at 5 p.m.
