This will be the third consecutive year the Eagles have participated in this regatta

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University rowing team continues its fall racing slate at the prestigious Head of the Charles regatta Saturday, Oct. 19.

Since its origin in 1965, the Head Of The Charles regatta has welcomed the world's best teams to the banks of the Charles River for the ultimate two-day rowing competition. The regatta sees over 11,000 athletes participate in the event each year, and is hosted by the Cambridge Boat Club.

This will be the third consecutive season the Eagles have competed at the Head of the Charles. In each of the two seasons prior, the Green and White have finished 17th at the event, with times of 17:50.347 and 17:47.527, respectively.

EMU will race one boat in the Club 8+, with the race beginning at 2:43 p.m.

Eastern Michigan is coming off a win over Michigan State at the Head of the Grand Oct. 5, marking the program's first win over a Big Ten opponent since 2005. The members of that winning boat, junior Eve Melody (Dublin, Ohio-Dublin Jerome), freshman Lena McCaslin (Hendersonville, Tenn.-Pope John Paul II), senior Amanda Flora (Greenfield, Ind.-Greenfield Central), freshman Emma Boersen (West Olive, Mich.-Grand Haven), and and junior Carly Szymanski (Toledo, Ohio-Notre Dame Academy), will all be competing for the Green and White this weekend.

Results will be available on the team's twitter account, @EMURowing, along with the Head of the Charles website.
