EMU looks for its 16th-consecutive MAC dual victory Saturday in Jones Natatorium

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University swimming and diving team continues its 2019 home schedule with a dual against the University at Buffalo, Saturday, Jan. 19, at Jones Natatorium. The Green and White look to not only extend its Mid-American Conference dual win-streak to 16, but also prolong a run of success over the Bulls that dates back to the 2012-13 season.

Due to the threat of extreme weather conditions, the meeting of the Eagles and Bulls has been moved up an hour to 12 p.m. in Jones Natatorium.

EMU and UB last squared off in a dual meet on Jan. 28, 2016, as the Eagles' five event wins were enough to best the Bulls, 164-136, at Alumni Arena Natatorium. Then-freshman Brielle Johnston (Ottawa, Ontario- Catholique Franco-Quest) swept both diving titles, including her career-best 3-meter dive, scoring 316.73 points. Her dive not only claimed the top spot on the podium, but was the third-best score in the MAC during the 2016-17 season. A top finish in the 400 Freestyle Relay sealed the deal for the Eagles, as former EMU stars Alexis Mitcheltree, Sierra Wagner, Chase Walker, and then-sophomore Stephanie Johnston (Holland, Mich.-Hamilton) edged out UB's squad by just .2 seconds for the top finish.

The Eagles enter the duel fresh off a thrashing of Wayne State, 174-11, Jan. 12. EMU swept every event title as 12 student-athletes earned top finishes against the Warriors, and moved 5-0 in dual meets for just the fifth time in school history. The Green and White were led by career-best times from sophomore Abby Rapien (Cincinnati, Ohio-Taylor) in the 1000 Free, tapping in at 10:34.22, senior Nicole Swartz (Dayton, Ohio-Centerville) in the 200 free, finishing in 1:53.29, and fellow senior Delaney Duncan (Galesburg, Ill.-Galesburg) in the 100 Yard Butterfly, earning the event title with a time of 57.61.
