Eagles Swept By Cardinals for First MAC Loss

Redshirt Senior Mallory Rajewski joined the 1,000 dig club
MUNCIE, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team suffered its first loss in Mid-American Conference play Friday, Sept. 28, getting swept by Ball State University, 3-0 at Worthen Arena.
BSU controlled every facet of the match, defeating EMU 25-23, 25-21, 25-20, as well as finishing with a higher attack percentage (.278 to .155), more kills (44 to 40), more blocks (8 to 3), and more digs (54 to 47).
Highlighting the match for the Eagles was redshirt senior Mallory Rajewski (Midland, Mich.-Midland), whose 11 digs in the match made her just the fifth player in Eastern Michigan volleyball history to earn a spot in both the 2,500 assist and 1,000 dig club.
Rajewski and junior Riley Taylor (Indianapolis, Ind.-Perry Meridian) had 17 and 20 assists, respectively, while sophomore Franki Strefling (Niles, Mich.-Buchanan) led the team in digs with 13. Rajewski finished the match with 11 digs, registering her eighth double-double of the season.
Junior Ariel Hamby (Oak Park, Ill.-Oak Park River Forest) was the lone Eagle to finish the match with double-digit kills, tying her career-high of 11 for the fourth time this season.
The Eagles wrap up the weekend with a 7 p.m. match at the University of Toledo, Saturday, Sept. 29.
