At least 100 student-athletes and all six cross country and track and field coaches volunteered at the JDRF One Walk

DEXTER, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan men's and women's track and cross country teams spent their weekend giving back, volunteering at the JDRF One Walk, Sunday, Sept. 23, at the Hudson Mills Metropark in Dexter, Mich.

JDRF One Walk is a fun, family-friendly event where dedicated walkers, volunteers, and sponsors raise money in an effort to make living with Type 1 Diabetes safer and healthier.

"We have volunteered at this great event for many years," said EMU Women's Cross Country Head Coach Sue Parks. "My sister, Nancy Kennedy, was one of the founders of the Ann Arbor JDRF One Walk. I participated with her and my brother in law in today's walk."

Both teams volunteer for this event every year in any capacity possible. Sunday saw about 100 men and women student-athletes and coaches dedicating their time to contribute. The women's team worked sign up, as greeters, face painters, and cheering along the route, while the men's team worked with clean up and tear down after the event.
