Danielle Darroch and Julia Kolder will join EMU as assistant athletic trainers
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University Associate Athletics Director of Sports Medicine Gretchen Buskirk announced two additions to her staff today, Sept. 10. Danielle Darroch, an assistant athletic trainer at Northern Illinois University, and Julia Kolder, a graduate assistant athletic trainer at the University of Hawai'i, are the newest additions to EMU's sports medicine department.
At Eastern, Darroch will serve as the assistant athletic trainer for football, while Kolder will oversee the care for the men's and women's track and field and cross country programs.
"We are thrilled to have Danielle and Julia join our staff at Eastern Michigan," said Buskirk. " They are both young professionals with great enthusiasm and I know they will provide an immediate impact to both the healthcare of our student-athletes and our sports medicine staff."
Darroch spent the last few years at NIU serving as Acting Assistant Athletic Trainer as well as a graduate assistant. During her time with the Huskies, Darroch worked with Northern Illinois' football and women's track and field programs.
Prior to her time at NIU, Darroch was an athletic training student for the University of Northern Iowa. In addition to her work within UNI's athletic department, she also worked with Columbus High School, Waterloo West High School, and Accelerated Physical Therapy.

Kolder comes to Ypsilanti by way of Hawai'i, where she worked with the beach volleyball and cross country teams for the past two years as a graduate assistant. In addition to her specific sports duties, Kolder also assisted with football coverage throughout the year.
The Bolingbrook, Ill. native worked with Dublin Jerome High School, Ohio State Sports Medicine General Medicine, Ohio Wesleyan University, and the Buckeye Athletic Department as a student at Ohio State. In her role with Ohio Wesleyan, Kolder worked with the football and soccer teams. At Ohio State, she spent time with a number of programs including men's soccer, men's tennis, football, women's tennis, swimming and diving, and men's and women's gymnastics.
Kolder graduated from Ohio State in 2016 with a bachelor's in athletic training. She received her master's in kinesiology and rehabilitation science from Hawai'i in May of 2018.
