TOLEDO, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University women's cross country team placed third at the Toledo Rockets Invitational Friday, Aug. 31 in Toledo, Ohio. EMU raced a total of nine harriers, including all four freshmen.
Leading the Eagles was sophomore Madison Distelrath (Fort Wayne, Ind.-Homestead), who placed third overall (14:22.9) out of 76 runners, trailing the first-place finisher by just 1.9 seconds. Sophomore Ashleigh Simonis (Cape Town, South Africa-Milnerton) also nabbed a top-10 finish, crossing the finish line in 14:38.2 to place 10th.
Freshman Kaitlyn St. Bernard (Monroe, Mich.-Jefferson) led the rookie class with a time of 15:14.2, coming in at 34th.
The Green and White continues its regular-season slate when it trails to Three Rivers, Mich. to take part in the George Dales Invitational Friday, Sept. 7.
