EMU Closes With Seventh-Place Finish at MAC Championships

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – Firing a final round 319, the Eastern Michigan University men's golf team finished in seventh place at the 2018 Mid-American Conference Championship with a three-day cumulative score of 1,245 (312-305-309-319). No. 29 Kent State University came from behind to capture its third consecutive league title, finishing at 44-over 1,196 (293-306-301-296) on the on the par 72, 7,331 yard Sycamore Hills Golf Club course.
Junior Beau Breault (Hartland, Mich.-Hartland) tied for 18th with a 21-over 309 (75-82-76-76) for his fourth top-20 finish of the 2017-18 campaign. Overall, it marked her third career top-30 showing at the league's championship having previously finished 22nd in 2016 and 26th last year.
Trailing Ball State by 10 strokes headed into the final round, the Golden Flashes flipped the script on the Cardinal on the final day to win by three shots. KSU's Ian Holt edged teammate Bjarki Petursson for the individual title with a 295 (74-77-72-72).
Sophomore Zach Sudinsky (McKinney, Texas-Boyd-Stephen F. Austin) finished 21st in his first MAC Championships with a three-day total of 311 (78-76-79-78). Freshman Ty Celone (Long Sault, Ontario, Canada- St Joseph's Catholic) struggled on Sunday, but still placed inside the top-25 with a 314 (77-73-82-82).
Freshman Cougar Collins (Caledon, Ontario, Canada-Mayfield Secondary) closed with an 83 in 34th with a 319 (85-75-76-83) while senior Nic Ross (Dundas, Ontario, Canada-Highland Secondary) wrapped up his career in 43rd after a 328 (82-81-78-87).
