Guilleux and Beck Finish Inside Top-15 at MAC Championships

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (EMUEagles.com) – Firing a final round 318, the Eastern Michigan University women's golf team finished in fifth-place at the 2018 Mid-American Conference Championship with a three-day cumulative score of 932 (305-309-318). No. 16 Kent State University captured its 20th consecutive league title, finishing with a MAC-record 11-under 853 (282-285-286) on the par-72, 6,092-yard Naperville Country Club course.
EMU junior Penelope Guilleux (Saint Maur Des Fosse, France-Arsonval) took 10th with a 10-over 226 (75-76-75) for her fourth top-20 finish of the 2017-18 campaign. Overall, it marked her second career top-15 showing at the league's championship having tied for 15th at the event in 2016.
Senior Thelma Beck (Baden, France-Lycee Sainte Anne) wrapped up a sensational EMU career in 13th with a 229 (74-76-79). She joins Stephany Fleet (2006-09) as the only student-athletes in program history to finish inside the top-15 in all four MAC Tournaments they competed in. Beck tied for seventh at last year's event after finishing 15th in 20016 and ninth in 2016. The Baden France native concludes her career ranked second in EMU scoring average at 76.50 stokes over the course of 103 rounds.
Freshman Preaw Sripatrprasite (Bangkok, Thailand-Siam International) closed the weekend with an 81 to take 20th with a 235 (74-80-81). Sophomore Maria Connelly (Waterville, Ohio-Anthony Wayne) added a final round 84 for a three-day total of 243 (82-77-84), while classmate Julia Stevenson (Milford, Mich.-Milford) carded a 251 (83-85-83) in a tie for 47th.
Toledo earned runner-up at 910 followed by Northern Illinois (923), Akron (924), and EMU (932). The Golden Flashes posted five of the top six individual slots as Pimnipa Panthong earned medalist honors with an eight-under par 208 (67-72-69) total.
