NAPERVILLE, Ill. (EMUEagles.com) – Senior Thelma Beck (Baden, France-Lycee Sainte Anne) is tied for 10th-place after posting a second round 76 for a two-round tally of 150 (74-76) Saturday, April 21, at the 2018 Mid-American Conference Women's Golf Championships. Beck is looking to join Stephany Fleet (2006-09) as the only student-athletes in program history to finish inside the top-15 in all four MAC Tournaments they competed in.
Overall, the Eastern Michigan University women's golf team sits in fourth with a 614 (305-309) on the par-72, 6,028-yard Naperville Country Club course. No. 16 Kent State University owns a 36-stroke lead over the field after Saturday's second round. Toledo is in second at 603, followed by Northern Illinois (607), EMU (614), and Akron (616).
Individually, KSU's Pimnipa Panthong still holds the lead with a five-under 139 (67-72) followed by teammate Karoline Stormo in second-place at 141(74- 67).
Three Eagles are ranked in the top 25, including junior Penelope Guilleux (Saint Maur Des Fosse, France-Arsonval) who is just one stroke behind Beck in 12th at 151 (75-76). Freshman Preaw Sripatrprasite (Bangkok, Thailand-Siam International) is in 18th-place with a 154 (74-80). Sophomore Maria Connelly (Waterville, Ohio-Anthony Wayne) is tied for 27th with a 159 (87-77) while classmate Julia Stevenson (Milford, Mich.-Milford) carded a 168 (83-85) in a tie for 48th.
The third and final round of the 2018 MAC Women's Golf Championship will get underway at 9 a.m. CT Sunday, April 22. Following competition, MAC Golfer, Freshman, Coach and Sportswomen of the Year, First and Second Team All-MAC and the All-Tournament team will be announced. For live scoring, visit Golfstat.com.
