Breault Leads the Eagles at the Rutherford Intercollegiate

Junior Beau Breault tied for 14th while the Eagles finished in fifth

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (EMUEagles.com) – Junior Beau Breault (Hartland, Mich.-Hartland) returned to his string of solid play Sunday, April 15, as he carded a three-round 216 to finish in a tied for 14th-place at the Rutherford Intercollegiate on the par-71, 7,202-yard PSU Blue Course.
For Breault, it was his third top-20 showing of the year and the 11th of his career, as he pieced together rounds of 72, 70 and 74 for the top spot among EMU golfers.
The Eagles moved up one spot to finish in fifth with a 876 (293-284-299). Host Penn State University again too home the tournament title at eight-under 844. PSU's Cole Miller cruised to medalist honors with a seven-under 206 (70-65-71).
Freshman Cougar Collins (Caledon, Ontario, Canada-Mayfield Secondary) and sophomore Zach Sudinsky (McKinney, Texas-Boyd-Stephen F. Austin) shared 31st with a nine-over 22. Collins notched a final round 80 while Sudinsky kept consistent with his third consecutive round of 74.
Senior Nic Ross (Dundas, Ontario, Canada-Highland Secondary) and freshman Ty Celone (Long Sault, Ontario, Canada-St Joseph's Catholic) both finished with a 224 in 42nd-place. Ross closed with a 74 to improve on his weekend tally and Celone added a 77. Taking part as an individual, senior Tyler Lewis (Ortonville, Mich.-Brandon-Mott CC) shot a 225 (74-75-76) in a tie for 48th.
Eastern Michigan now travels to Fort Wayne, Ind., for the Mid-American Conference Championships, April 227-29, at the Sycamore Hills Golf Club.
