Distance Medley Relay Team Closes out Regular Season with a Bang

The squad posted the third-best time in the nation so far

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team capped off its regular season at the Alex Wilson Invite Saturday, Feb. 17 in South Bend, Ind.

The meet was used specifically as a chance for the distance medley relay team consisted of redshirt senior Alsu Bogdanova (Kazan, Russia-Lyceum #83), and seniors Jasmine Jones (Greensburg, Pa.-Hempfield), Jenna Wyns (Londerzeel, Belgium-Sportschool KA2), and Natalie Cizmas (Clinton Twp., Mich.-Chippewa Valley) to qualify for the national championship race.

The four put together an impressive performance, finishing first over tough competition with a time of 11:00.51, which serves as a new EMU all-time record. With that time they currently rank third in the nation, which put them in a great position to catch a ticket to the championship as the top-12 teams advance. Additionally, that time crushed the current Mid-American Conference top-time this season by 39 seconds.

EMU looks to bring back the MAC title in next weekend's conference championship, which will take place in Cleveland, Ohio Friday-Saturday, Feb. 23-24.
