Matt Dery Joins WEMU Broadcast Crew for 2018-19 Season

Dery will aid in the men's basketball broadcast crew as the station will air more than 40 games

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Matt Dery will join the Eastern Michigan University broadcast team on WEMU (89.1 FM) as the men's basketball analyst alongside play-by-play voice Chad Bush the University announced Tuesday, Nov. 6. Dery, who has over 20 years of experience as a Detroit broadcaster, will be a part of at least 13 regular and postseason contests.
"Having Matt join our broadcast team will give an added dimension and depth to our men's basketball broadcasts," said WEMU General Manager Molly Motherwell. "He's an excellent analyst and we're looking forward to his insights on the air."
Dery most recently worked as the analyst for the Oakland University men's basketball team for the past two seasons. He has an extensive resume that includes stints calling Mid-American Basketball games on Fox Sports Detroit (2010), serving as play-by-play man for Detroit Mercy (1998-2016) on the radio, ESPN3 and WADL-TV, and play-by-play fill-in for the Detroit Pistons on television and radio (1998-Present).
"I couldn't be more excited to join the WEMU and EMU Athletics families," said Dery. "This is a tremendous opportunity for me to be a part of the basketball broadcasts and work alongside Chad."
WEMU is scheduled to air more than 40 basketball games during the 2018-19 campaign with 26 men's and 14 women's basketball regular season tilts scheduled. The first men's broadcast is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 14, at national-power Duke University, while the first women's game will be Saturday, Nov. 17, as the second leg of a doubleheader against Illinois State University.
Bush returns for his ninth season as the voice of the Eagles on the hardwood after joining the station prior to the 2010-11 campaign.
Eagle fans will also be able to catch plenty of roundball on the small screen this winter with the most robust television schedule in EMU Athletic department history. In its fourth year of a partnership with ESPN, the Eagles will be on ESPN+ or ESPN3 for nearly every Mid-American Conference men's and women's game.
Ryan Wooley returns for his fourth year behind the microphone and will again be joined by EMU Associate Athletics Director for Media Relations Greg Steiner during men's games and EMU Assistant Media Relations Director Kyler Ludlow on women's contents.
Fans will be able to access these games online at WatchESPN.com, on smartphones and tablets via the WatchESPN app and streamed on televisions through Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
