CHATHAM, Ontario, Canada (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team looks to remain unbeaten as it hits the road for the first time this season with a trip to across the border for a clash with Iowa State University Wednesday, Nov. 21. EMU and ISU will square off inside of the St. Clair College Health Plex at 6 p.m.
Eastern Michigan is off to a 2-0 start to the year following a 50-41 win over Illinois State University, Nov. 17. Hot off a Preseason WNIT Championship, Iowa State enters the matchup with a 4-0 mark after topping No. 24 University of Miami, 75-52, Nov. 18.
Fans unable to attend the game can catch the action on Eagle All-Access or by tuning into veteran broadcaster Greg Steiner on 89.1FM WEMU.

LOCKED IN ON DEFENSE: Eastern stymied Illinois State, Nov. 17, holding the Redbirds to 29.0 points below their season average. ISU had put up 70.0 points per game coming into the clash, but was held to just 41 against EMU.
Additionally, ISU's 41 points were the lowest EMU has held an opponent to since Eastern bested Toledo, 59-41, Jan. 23, 2016.

NO NEED FOR WINDEX, LO'S HERE: The Green and White out-rebounded Illinois State, Nov. 17, by a 48-39 margin, and a large part of its success on the glass came via redshirt senior Lorraine Enabulele. The Ajax, Ontario native grabbed a career-best 11 boards, the most by an Eagle since Danielle Minott pulled down 12 rebounds versus Northern Illinois, Feb. 24, 2018.

CANADIAN CONNECTIONS: Redshirt senior Lorraine Enabulele is one of 27 Eastern Michigan student-athletes that calls Canada home. In fact, nearly six percent of EMU's student-athletes hail from north of the border.

STUFFING ISN'T JUST FOR THANKSGIVING: Generally known for her scoring, redshirt senior Danielle Minott has stuffed the stat sheet in each of EMU's games this season. In fact, Minott is the only player in NCAA Division I women's basketball averaging at least 9.0 points per game, 9.0 rebounds per game, 4.5 assists per game, and 3.5 steals per game. Furthermore, she is one of eight players in the country with a minimum 9.0 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 3.0 apg, and 3.5 spg.

INTERNATIONAL FLAVOR: Eastern Michigan's trip to Canada will mark the program's 14th time playing outside of the United States, as well as its first since playing in the Caribbean Challenge, Nov. 27-28, 2008. EMU is 3-10 all-time in international games, having played in Mexico, the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, and Canada.

EMU IN THE GREAT WHITE NORTH: EMU's trip to Chatham, Ontario, Canada will be Eastern's second trip to the Great White North. The other trip came back during the program's inaugural 1976-77 season. That year, EMU took part in the Can-Am Tournament in Windsor, Ontario, Jan. 21-22.
The Eagles bested the University of Michigan, 62-52, in their first game of the tournament before falling to Central Michigan University, 78-49, and Hamilton (Ontario), 66-62.

LAST WIN OUTSIDE THE STATES: The Eagles will be in search of their first win outside the country over a NCAA Division I institution since 2007 when they square off with the Cyclones of Iowa State Wednesday, Nov. 21.
EMU's last win outside of the states came as part of the Junkanoo Jam, as Eastern defeated Alabama, 52-43, in Freeport, Bahamas, Nov. 23, 2007. Sophomore Alyssa Pittman led all scorers with 19 points on 5-of-11 shooting and sophomore Kelly Watts finished with 13 points and eight rebounds.

ALL-TIME AGAINST THE HAWKEYE STATE: Wednesday's tilt will mark the first meeting between Eastern Michigan and Iowa State in their respective histories.
In fact, EMU has only played one team from the Hawkeye State. That meeting came at Drake University in the opening round of the Women's National Invitational Tournament, where the Eagles topped the Bulldogs, 80-70, March 20, 2015.

BATTLING THE BIG 12: Eastern's clash with Iowa State will be EMU's seventh all-time meeting against an opponent from the Big 12 Conference. The Green and White is looking for its first win over the Irving, Texas-based league, as it is currently 0-6 against the Big 12 all-time.
EMU's last meeting with a Big 12 opponent came in the second round of the 2016 Women's National Invitational Tournament against Texas Christian University. EMU saw its season come to a close with an 85-81 setback at TCU, March 19, 2016.

BIG MOMENT, BIG STAGE: Since 1998-99 the Eagles have posted 11 victories over Power Seven Conference opponents, most recently a 64-63 come-from-behind triumph over Michigan, Dec. 23, 2015.     Overall, EMU has played 49 contests against high-majors during that span, posting an 11-38 record.

LAST POWER SEVEN WINS: Eastern's last win over a Power Seven opponent came in the confines of the Convocation Center as Phillis Webb's near-double-double led EMU past the University of Michigan, 64-63, Dec. 23, 2015. Webb led the way with 22 points and nine rebounds, while three other Eagles finished in double-figures.
The last time EMU knocked off a Power Five opponent outside of the Convocation Center came on a neutral court against the University of Alabama. The Eagles and Crimson Tide opened play against one another at the Junkanoo Jam in the Bahamas, Nov. 23, 2007, a 52-43 victory for EMU.

EMU AGAINST THE POWER SEVEN: Eastern Michigan holds a combined record of 19-74 against the Power Five conferences - ACC, American, Big East, Big Ten, Big 12,  Pac-12, and SEC. EMU has faced Big Ten Conference opponents most often, compiling a 13-45 record versus the Rosemont, Ill.-based league, while Eastern is 7-8 versus the American and 4-8 against the Big East. EMU has three wins against both the Atlantic Coast Conference (3-13) and Southeastern Conference (3-5). Meanwhile, EMU is winless against the Big 12 (0-6) and Pac-12 (0-5).

ON THE HORIZON: Eastern Michigan returns to the Convocation Center Tuesday, Nov. 27, for an 11 a.m. clash with the University of Illinois-Chicago.
