EMU looks to start season 3-0 in duals for the fifth time in past 10 seasons
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University swimming and diving team starts its home slate of Mid-American Conference duals as it welcomes Ohio University to Jones Natatorium, Saturday, Nov. 3. The Eagles are looking to nab their 15th-consecutive MAC dual meet victory and extend their record to 3-0 this season.
The afternoon meet stamps the first time Eastern Michigan and Ohio have met since Oct. 29, 2016. The last time the two teams squared off, the Eagles closed out a tight-scoring meet with a win in the 400 Free Relay to top the Bobcats 178-122, at the Ohio University Aquatic Center in Athens, Ohio.
The Eagles are coming off a dual win at the University of Toledo, Oct. 20, where the Green and White secured 11 event wins in its 156-112 rout of the Rockets. Seniors Nicole Swartz (Dayton, Ohio-Centerville), Stephanie Johnston (Holland, Mich.-Hamilton), and Delaney Duncan (Galesburg, Ill.-Galesburg) acquired a combined six event titles, while sophomore Meike Staffeldt (Niedersachsen, Germany) and junior Sophia Tsafantakis (Washington, Mich.-Romeo) both secured their first event wins of the year.
