AKRON, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team got back to its winning ways with a 3-0 sweep of the University of Akron in #MACtion Saturday, Oct. 20 at Rhodes Arena.

EMU (14-10, 6-4 MAC) led UA (11-10, 3-7 MAC) in nearly every statistical category, leading in attack percentage (.354 to .094), kills (45 to 29), digs (48 to 37), assists (42 to 27), blocks (9 to 3), and aces (7 to 2). The win stops Eastern's three-match losing streak.

Redshirt junior Cassie Haut (Monroe, Mich.-St. Mary Central Catholic) led the way for Eastern with an eye-popping performance, finishing with 13 kills while hitting at a career-record .812 (13-of-16 with no errors). She also added four total blocks and three service aces.

Adding to the offense was sophomore Franki Strefling (Niles, Mich.-Buchanan), who registered her fifth double-double of the season with a 10-kill, 12-dig performance. Leading the distribution of the attack was redshirt senior Mallory Rajewski (Midland, Mich.-Midland), who finished with a match-high 23 assists. Junior Riley Taylor (Indianapolis, Ind.-Perry Meridian) added 13 assists.

Eastern's defense showed up in spades Saturday evening, as the team finished with nine blocks compared to just two three for Akron.
