EMU Heads to Allendale, Mich. for GVSU Mike Lints Alumni Open

Senior Jasmine Jones posted a program record in the 300m dash during Eastern's last visit to GVSU
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team heads back to Allendale, Mich. for the GVSU Lints Alumni Meet Saturday, Jan. 27. This is the second out of three total meets held by Grand Valley State University that EMU will compete in this season.
Most recently, the Eagles faired well in the Tom Wright Classic, Jan. 19, as they came away with seven event titles and saw nine student-athletes post personal-bests. Becoming a regularity, EMU dominated sprints, with junior Jessica Harris (Slidell, La.-Slidell) and sophomore Brittni Mason (Richmond Heights, Ohio-West Geauga) taking the top-two spots in the 60m dash, as well as senior Jasmine Jones (Greensburg, Pa.-Hempfield Area), sophomore Micah Johnston (Toledo, Ohio-Toledo Christian), freshman Michaela Nelms (Rocky Mount, N.C.-Nash Central), and Harris sweeping the top four spots in the 200m, respectively. Additionally, Jones, Johnston, and Nelms' times serve as the first, third, and fourth-fastest marks in the MAC for the 200m this season. Also posting a new MAC-best was senior Jenna Wyns (Londerzeel, Belgium-Sportschool KA2), who marked a time of 2:09.4 in the 800m to claim first place.
Senior Dace Dreimane (Ventspils, Latvia-Ventspils Gymnasium No. 1) highlighted EMU representatives in the field events, earning first place in both the high jump and long jump with marks of 1.69m, and 5.83m, respectively. Additionally, her high jump currently ranks fourth in the MAC, while her performance in the long jump puts her at sixth in the conference.
Competition is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. with the weight throw and long jump kicking off the field events, and the 60m hurdle prelims starting the track events. Results will be posted in the schedule page on EMUEagles.com following the conclusion of the meet.
