Women's Swim and Dive Picked Third in MAC Preseason Poll

The Eagles open competition in two weeks against Kentucky.

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Following its third consecutive runner-up finish, the Eastern Michigan University women's swim and dive team was selected to finish third in the Mid-American Conference, the league announced Friday, September 29th. 

Defending MAC champions, Akron, was picked to finish the regular season in first place, receiving all eight votes. Buffalo was selected to finish second, just above the Eagles. Miami was slated fourth while Ohio rounded out the top five. Bowling Green, Toledo and Ball State rounded out the rankings.

Last season, Eastern Michigan was undefeated in the regular season, going 8-0. At the MAC Championships, the Green and White finished in second and rewrote the program's record book. Following competition, juniors Delaney Duncan (Galesburg, Ill.-Galesburg) and Nicole Swartz (Dayton, Ohio-Centerville)  were selected to the All-MAC First Team in addition to Alexis Mitcheltree who was lost to graduation. Sophomore Claire Young (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich.-Grosse Pointe South) was given All-MAC Second Team accolades. 

EMU begins competition on the road in two weeks against the University of Kentucky, Saturday, Oct. 14. The meet is slated to begin at 1 p.m. in Lexington, Ky.
