KAYLIN WILLIAMS NAMED MAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Junior goalkeeper Kaylin Williams reeled in MAC Defensive Player of the Week honors, Sept. 13, following a pair of shutouts. Williams paced the Green and White defense over the weekend, Sept. 8-10, leading the Eagles to 1-nil wins against Youngstown State and Oakland. She totaled eight saves on 18 shots faced and did not yield a goal in more than 185 minutes in between the posts. It marks the second time Williams has reeled in the weekly accolade in her career.
NO GOAL PATROL: Behind the stout play of Kaylin Williams between the posts and the Eagle defense, the Green and White have not yielded a goal in 215 minutes. The streak began in the 61st minute against Butler, Sept. 1, and has stretched the two games after thanks to a pair of clean sheets by Williams.

FIRST SINCE '96 IN THE 96TH: Courtesy of Marla Cobetto's late game heroics, Eastern knocked off in-state foe Oakland, 1-0, in overtime Sunday, Sept. 10. Cobetto's 96th-minute goal, the first of her career, gave EMU its first win over OU since 1996, and just its second all-time.
EMU VERSUS THIS WEEKEND'S OPPONENTS:  Eastern Michigan holds an 8-8-4 record against this weekend's opponents, having only battled the Titans of Detroit Mercy previously. EMU will look for its first win over UDM since the 2013 season when the two squads square off Sunday, Sept. 17, in the Motor City.  The Eagles overcame a 2-1 deficit behind goals by Cara Cutaia (63') and Martha Stevens (68') to upend the Titans.
Eastern's last meeting with UDM came just over one year ago, Sept. 18, 2016, at Scicluna Field. In that match, the Titans topped the Eagles, 2-1, on goals in the 76th and 94th minutes.

THERE'S A FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING: Friday's clash between Eastern and Utah State will not only be the first time the two teams have faced each other on the pitch, but the first time EMU has played an opponent from the Beehive State.

EMU VERSUS THE Mountain west ALL-TIME: Eastern Michigan has squared off against the Mountain West three times in its history. EMU holds a 0-3-0 record against the Colorado Springs, Colo.-based league, including losses against Hawaii, Nevada, and San Jose State.
The Eagles most recent match up with a Mountain West member came back during 2010 when EMU dropped a pair of matches at the Wolf Pack Invitational, Sept. 16-18. After falling in a overtime thriller to SJSU, 2-1, the Green and White were handed a 3-0 setback by Nevada.

REMEDIOS READY IN THE CLUTCH: Generally relied on for her strong defensive effort, Nicole Remedios has been known to come through when her team needs her the most. As a freshman, Remedios notched the game-winning goal against Green Bay, Sept. 2, 2016, to lift the Eagles past the Phoenix, 1-nil. This past weekend, the Ajax, Ontario was back at it, delivering a game-winner in the 81st minute against Youngstown State, and then assisting on Marla Cobetto's golden goal against Oakland, Sept. 10. Remedios has already pushed her career point total from two to six through just seven games this season. Additionally, she has set a career-high with two assists.

KEEPIN' IT CLEAN: The Eagles turned in back-to-back shutouts over the weekend, Sept. 8-10, blanking Youngstown State and Oakland by 1-nil tallies. It marked the first time the Eagles have held consecutive opponents without a goal since Oct. 14-16, 2016, when EMU topped Ohio, 2-0, before drawing scoreless with Kent State.

TWO TIMES: Kaylin Williams posted in back-to-back clean sheets for the second time in her career, Sept. 8-10, shutting out Youngstown State and Oakland, while making eight saves in the process. This marks the second time the Kansas City, Mo. native has accomplished the feat, making her the first Eagle keeper to do so twice in their career since Megan McCabe did so in 2014.

IN SEARCH OF A 'PERFECT 10':   With her first two shutouts of the season, junior goalkepper Kaylin Williams now has recorded eight clean sheets for her career and sits just outside the top-five all-time. Sarah Willis holds the program standard, having posted 24 shutouts from 1998-2000, while Williams is four away from tying Erin Norton for fifth in EMU annals.

CORNERS GALORE: Eastern registered 18 corner kicks over the weekend, Sept. 8-10, pushing its conference-leading total to 46, or 6.57 per contest. The Eagles earned a season-high 11 corners in a 1-nil win over Oakland, Sept. 10, the most since the Green and White tallied 13 against Miami, Oct. 2, 2016.

OVERTIME MADNESS: Since the beginning of the 2015 season, the Eagles have needed overtime in eight matches at Scicluna Field, including two-of-three matches this year. Over the past two+ seasons, the Green and White have compiled a 2-2-8 record in overtime contests.

CATCH COBETTO ON @NCAASOCCER:   Following her game-winning goal in the 96th minute of Eastern Michigan's win over Oakland, Sept. 10, freshman Marla Cobetto's header was featured on @NCAASoccer on Twitter.
AGAINST THE HORIZON LEAGUE ALL-TIME:  Based on proximity, it is no surprise that EMU's non-conference schedule consists of four Horizon League institutions. Eastern boasts a 28-21-7 record against  members of the Indianapolis, Ind.-based conference, having played seven of its 10 current members. EMU owns perfect records against Youngstown (5-0-0), Illinois-Chicago (2-0-0), and Green Bay (4-0-0). Eastern also leads in the all-time series with IUPUI (7-3-2) and is tied at 8-8-4 against Detroit Mercy all-time.  Milwaukee won the lone meeting between the squads, while EMU also trails in the series with Oakland, 2-9-1.

HOME COOKING:  Eastern Michigan has found consistent success when playing at home over the past 22 years, compiling a 105-53-28 overall record, good for a .640 win percentage, at Scicluna Field. This season, the Green and White are 2-0-1 on its home pitch.

EASTERN VS. THE MITTEN:  The Eagles are 39-54-18 against teams hailing from the state of Michigan all-time. EMU's most common opponent is Western Michigan, having squared off against the Broncos 27 times since 1995. Eastern trails in the all-time series by a slim 11-12-4 margin. The Green and White have been most successful against Central Michigan, posting a 12-5-3 mark against the Chippewas. EMU and Detroit Mercy sit level at 8-8-4 in 20 total meetings, while the Eagles trail in series with Michigan (0-8-2), Michigan State (1-12-3), and Oakland (2-9-1).

EYEING 20: Sophomore Sabrina McNeill has totaled 17 points over the first 25 games of her EMU career. Having already notched six goals and five assists, three more points would give McNeill 20 for her career. The Whitby, Ontario native is on the verge of becoming just the 26th player in program history to join the 20-point club, and the first since Ellie Tillar did so in 2016.

OPPORTUNISTIC AGGRESSORS: EMU's aggressive play has been a tell-tale sign of success for the Eagles through the first five games of the season. The Green and White have committed 70 fouls through seven games, the second-most in the league. Eastern holds a 3-1-1 record when tallying as many-or-more fouls than the opposition, while EMU is 1-2-0, when committing less fouls than its opponents.

OFFSIDES OFFENDERS: Eastern Michigan has been whistled offsides 25 times through the first seven games of the season, the most of any team in the Mid-American Conference. In fact, the Eagles were called offsides nine times in their season opener against Illinois State, Aug. 18. EMU's nine miscues against ISU alone would rank eighth in the league.

ON THE HORIZON: With the final weekend of non-conference play set for this weekend, the Green and White are poised to begin the conference portion of the 2017 slate next weekend, Sept. 22-24. EMU opens Mid-American Conference play on the road Friday, Sept. 22, against Ohio, before traveling to Kent State for a matinee, Sunday, Sept. 24.
