YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University baseball team is looking to break a seven-game skid when it ventures west for a three-game weekend series against Fresno State, Friday-Sunday, March 10-12. Action on the west coast begins with a 9 p.m. first pitch on Friday and Saturday, followed by a 4 p.m. start time on Sunday from Pete Bennett Stadium.

The action can be tracked live on Twitter by following @EMU_Baseball. Live stats will be available through gobulldogs.com. There will also be audio for Sunday's game on 940 AM ESPN radio.

ALL-TIME VS THE BULLDOGS: EMU and Fresno State have squared off three times in their respective histories, with the Bulldogs owning wins in all three contests. The two teams first faced off in 1990, while the most recent meeting came back in March of 2001, when Fresno swept a two-game series.

BATTLING THE BULLDOGS: Fresno State enters the weekend with a 6-5 overall mark, including a 2-1 record in the Mountain West Conference. As a team, Fresno hits at a .279 clip, outscoring its opponents, 62-55, and out hitting them, 112-80. In all,  five of their starters hit above .300, led by Austin Guibor who hits .362.
Defensively, Fresno's pitching staff has a 3.92 ERA, holding opponents to a .212 batting average. The staff is led by Ricky Tyler Thomas who sports a 1.27 ERA in three starts, totaling 21.1 innings. He has 33 strikeouts to just five walks.

ALL-TIME VS THE MWC: The Eagles have faced teams from the Mountain West Conference a total of 17 times in program history. EMU holds a 5-12 all-time record against teams from the Colorado Springs, Colo.-based conference with its best record coming versus UNLV (3-3).

HANGING TOUGH AGAINST THE CARDS: Despite not getting a victory against the No. 6 ranked Louisville Cardinals, the Eagles gave the nationally ranked opponent all they could handle in the three-game weekend series. On Saturday and Sunday, EMU lost by one run each time, including a 13-inning affair on Saturday, in which EMU lost on a walk-off.

IMPACT FRESHMEN: So far this season, EMU has relied early and often on 'true' freshmen in starting roles. In the first 13 games, freshmen have combined to make 37 starts in the field and six appearances on the  mound, including two starts in the weekend rotation for James Harness.

COME ON AND TAKE A FREE RIDE: Early on in his career, freshman Drake Peggs has shown an affinity for patience at the plate and taking what the pitcher gives him. The infielder leads the team  and the MAC in walks with 11, which is good for 28th in the nation. In addition, his high walk total has him with a team-best .426 on-base percentage.

BRAD ALLEN DEALING: In his first season in the Green and White, junior pitcher Brad Allen has found his way into the weekend rotation and he is making the  most of it. The JUCO transfer leads all starters with a 1.47 ERA in a team-best 18.1 innings and 15 strikeouts. In his most recent start, he held No. 6 Louisville to just three hits and one unearned run in a career-best 7.0 innings.

GOING TO CALIFORNIA: This weekend will be a homecoming of sorts for three EMU baseball players who are from The Golden State. While none of the three live particularly close to Fresno, seniors Sam Delaplane and John Montgomery, as well as junior Justin McMurtrey all hail from California.

CLUB 100: A trio of Eagles reached a career milestone in the first five games of the season. Redshirt senior Marquise Gill and junior Brennan Williams both reached the 100 career hit milestone against Missouri. Fellow senior John Montgomery joined them in that club, as he notched his 100th hit against FGCU, Feb. 22. They joined redshirt senior Mike Mioduszewski for active players in the 100 hit club. Mioduszewski is the active leader in hits with 156 career knocks.

BULLDOGS ON THE HORIZON: The Eagles will go from one Bulldog to the next when they square off with Samford University next weekend, March 17-19. The series against the Montgomery, Ala.-based school will begin with a 7 p.m. first pitch, Friday evening.
