The Eagles' were held to just .133 in the match

TOLEDO, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team struggled on the road against the University of Toledo Friday, Oct. 27, hitting just .133 in the match and getting swept, 0-3 (25-21, 16-25, 19-25) at Savage Arena.

EMU was out-hit (.133-.258), out-blocked (3-6), out-aced (2-5) and out-dug (59-66) by Toledo, as the Eagles suffered their most lopsided loss in Mid-American Conference play.

Junior Cassie Haut (Monroe, Mich.-St. Mary Catholic Central) was a bright spot for the Eagles' offense, finishing with a season-high 13 kills and attacking at a .393 percentage. Fellow junior Mallory Rajewski (Midland, Mich.-Midland) registered her 13th double-double of the season thanks to 21 assists and 12 digs. Jordan Smith (Solon, Iowa-Solon) was the only other Eagle to finish with double-digit kills, finishing with 10.

Eastern (began the match on fire, hitting .333 as a team early and building up a 13-8 lead to force Toledo into a timeout. Out of the break the Eagles could not withstand the Rockets charge, eventually falling 25-21. EMU finished the set hitting just .130 compared to UT's .286, and Toledo took the momentum for the remainder of the match.

The second set fared no better for the Eagles, who fell behind the Rockets early and could never make their way back into the match, falling 25-16. Toledo once again held the Eastern Michigan attack at bay, as the Green and White were limited to a meager .128 attack percentage.

Toledo wasted no time to take control of the third set, jumping ahead 7-2 and never looking back. Eastern tried to make things interested late, but had fallen behind so far that the Rockets never lost the lead.

EMU, who led the MAC in blocks per set going into the weekend, did not return a UT attack until the 26th point of the second set. Eastern finished the match with three, its lowest block total of the season.

The Eagles return to action Saturday, Oct. 28 against MAC West leader Ball State at 7 p.m. in Muncie, Ind.
