Eastern is in the hunt for its 10th consecutive MAC dual win
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University women's swimming and diving team travels to Bowling Green, Ohio for its first Mid-American Conference dual of the 2017-18 campaign. After posting a perfect 4-0 record last season in MAC duals, the Green and White search for its 10th consecutive conference dual win this weekend against Bowling Green State University.
Saturday's meet marks the first time the Eagles and Falcons have faced off since January 29, 2016, when EMU topped Bowling Green 184.5-107.5, in Ypsilanti. Winning every event of the meet, the Green and White were paced by then-freshman Delaney Duncan (Galesburg, Ill.-Galesburg), Clarice Daniel, Alexis Mitcheltree, and Mary Kate MacLean. Duncan swept the breaststroke events, clocking in at a then-school record of 1:01.20 in the 100 breast, before touching in at 2:16.65 in the 200 breast.
The Eagles head into the weekend on the heels of a dominating 184.5-115.5 victory over Denison University, Oct. 21. Junior Nicole Swartz (Dayton, Ohio-Centerville) brought in a meet-high 27 points after posting a trio of first-place finishes and then aiding the 400 freestyle relay to a third-place finish after clocking in the fastest splits of the squad. Sophomore Casey Gavigan (East Setauket, N.Y.-Ward Melville), sweeping the backstroke events, added another 18 points to Eastern's total score while six other Eagles contributed first-place finishes.
Action in Bowling Green is set to begins at 1 p.m. at Cooper Pool. Fans can follow along with the action on the MeetMobile app.
