Football Releases Home Jerseys for 2016 campaign

A redesigned home game uniform unveiled that predominately features the color green

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Fans will be seeing plenty of green returning to "The Factory" at Rynearson Stadium in 2016, as the Eastern Michigan University football team unveiled its redesigned home uniform for the 2016 campaign. In coordination with adidas, the team's look will incorporate the school's traditional green color pallet while blending diamond plate numerals.
The jerseys and pants feature adidas tech fit technology and its new prime knit uniform template. The jersey top is designed with traditional football features including numerals on the shoulders and sleeve stripes patterned to match the helmet design.
In addition, the team's green helmets have been reconditioned and repainted to more closely mirror the uniform color. A metallic diamond plate block 'E' decal will continue to predominately be featured on both sides of the helmet. The face mask has also been re-coated with a nickel plating to give it a longer lasting shine as opposed to the previous green version.
The most noticeable addition to the helmet will be the return of a 1.5-inch wide silver and white stripe. A traditional feature on most collegiate headgear, EMU's helmet previously featured either a white, green or black stripe from the 1950s until 2003.
If you look closely at the helmet, fans will also notice the student-athlete's numbers on the front, sandwiching the stripe that runs from front to back of the helmet. The unique feature is a nod to a similar look made famous by the NFL's Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants.
The changes are made possible as a part of EMU's multi-million dollar contract extension that was announced in the summer of 2015. The agreement between EMU and adidas runs through June 30, 2022, and grants adidas the rights to provide official apparel and footwear for all of Eastern Michigan's 21 varsity sports.
