Davidson finished the season without a strikeout in 101 at bats

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) -- After turning in a strong senior campaign, recent graduate Abby Davidson (Westerville, Ohio-Olentangy Orange) was named the 2016 NCAA Division I Softball Statistical Champion as the toughest player to strikeout alongside Chloe Oro of Delaware St. The full list of NCAA Division I Statistical Champions can be found here.

Davidson is the first Eagle to be honored as a NCAA Statistical Champion since 2012-13 when the EMU men's basketball team led the nation in field goal percentage defense. Additionally, Davidson is the first individual to garner the distinction since EMU women's basketball's Marion Crandall led the country in three-point field goal percentage for the 2003-04 season.

Moving from the hot corner to center field in her final year donning the Green and White, Davidson boasted a unblemished 1.000 fielding percentage, while appearing in 43 games. The Westerville, Ohio product garnered the distinction of toughest to strikeout after totaling 101 at bats without ever getting called out on strikes. Dating back to the 2015 season, Davidson finished her career with 119 consecutive at bats without a strikeout. In her 101 at bats, Davidson cranked out 20 hits, while crossing the plate 17 times and driving in 12.

The Eagles posted their best campaign since 2011 during  the 2016 season, finishing with a 19-32 overall record that included a 9-14 mark in Mid-American Conference play.
