LOUISVILLE, Ky. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University junior outfielder Michelle Kriegshauser (New Lenox, Ill.-Lincoln Way Central) reeled in Nation Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region honors. Kriegshauser garnered second team recognition the NFCA announced today, May 19.
Weeks after being named First Team All-Mid-American Conference, Kriegshauser is the first Eagle to be named NFCA All-Region since Ashley Strauss was named to the second team at the conclusion of the 2008 season. Additionally, the New Lenox, Ill. product is just the seventh player in program history to earn the award.
This season, Kriegshauser paced an EMU squad that posted its top MAC finish since the 2011 campaign. The junior outfielder ranked fourth in the MAC with a .381 batting average, the eighth-best single season average in program history. Additionally, Kriegshauser was slotted third in slugging percentage (.653) in the league and 147th overall. Known for her power, Kriegshauser belted seven home runs on the season, including a solo shot against No. 2 Michigan back in March. The New Lenox, Ill. native ranked second in the conference in doubles per game and 54th nationally, finishing the season with a career-high 15 two-baggers. Overall, Kriegshauser cranked out a team-high 56 hits, including 24 extra-base knocks in 49 games this season. She tied for first on the team with 35 RBI's.
With the 2015 campaign in the books, Kriegshauser will head into her senior season with a career batting average of .355, the best in program history. Additionally, her 40 career doubles puts her sixth in EMU laurels and her 20 career home runs is slotted fifth all-time at Eastern Michigan.
