Eagles Set to Close out Indoor Regular Season

The Green and White will return to Allendale, Mich. for their last meet before the MAC Championships
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Looking to conclude the indoor regular season on a high note, the Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team will compete in the GVSU Tune-Up, Friday, Feb. 19. The team looks to build momentum heading into the Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships, which will be held next weekend, Feb. 27-28, in Akron, Ohio.
The team had a great weekend at both the GVSU Big Meet and the Iowa State Classic, Feb. 12-13. In Ames, Iowa, sophomore Jordann McDermitt (Davison, Mich. - Davison) turned in the fastest 5000m run in program history, clocking in at a speedy 15:58.18 to shatter her old personal-best. Junior Alsu Bogdanova (Kazan, Russia - Lyceum #83) also had a fantastic day, setting a career-best in the 3000m with a time of 9:16.91, along with winning the event.
At the GVSU Big Meet, freshman Jessica Harris (Slidell, La. - Slidell) took third in the 60m dash finals and set a new personal-best, while senior Ellie Braidic (Pandora, Ohio - Pandora-Gilboa) and junior Natalie Uy (Kettering, Ohio - Fairmont) took second and third, respectively, in the pole vault. Finally, junior Janina Pollatz (Grandville, Mich. - Grand Rapids Christian) nabbed second in the long jump with a personal-best mark of 5.72 meters/ 18 feet 9.25-inches, and freshman Jada Taylor (Neptune, N.J. - Neptune) notched a career-best weight throw of 15.35 meters/ 50 feet 4.5-inches.
