YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Following a disappointing 0-2 weekend in Iowa, the Eastern Michigan University tennis team looks to get back on track when it hosts a pair of matches this weekend at the Chippewa Racquet Club. The Eagles (2-4) will first take on Xavier University Friday, Feb. 12, at 1p.m. before hosting Wake Forest University Saturday, Feb. 13, at 5 p.m.
Eastern Michigan will take on the Musketeers (4-2) for the first time since the Spring of 2008 when the Green and White fell, 4-3, in Ypsilanti. Three Eagles were victorious during singles play in that match. Vanessa Frankowski, at the No. 1 spot, defeated Xavier's Kara Courtney in two sets, 7-5, 6-1. At the No. 2 slot, Aditi Krishnan defeated Aylin Seyalioglu, 6-2, 6-3, to remain perfect on the season, with a 4-0 record in dual action. Eastern's final win came from Tina Bestehorn at the No. 4 singles spot, defeating Kaitlyn Zinn, 6-2, 6-1. EMU holds a 4-2 edge in the overall series with XU.
The Saturday evening matchup with the Demon Deacons (7-0) will be the first time that Eastern Michigan and Wake Forest have met on the court.
