Four Eagles Compete on First Day of NCAA East Regional

Brown qualifies to the quarterfinals of the 400m
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (EMUEagles.com)--Eastern Michigan University's men's track and field team saw four of its student-athletes in action on the first day of the NCAA East Regional, May 28.
On the field, Keith Williams (Sherman, Ill.-Williamsville) placed 33rd in the hammer throw while Donald Scott (Apopka, Fla.-Apopka) garnered an 18th-place finish in the long jump. Williams threw 60.05 meters/197 feet, finishing fifth overall in his flight and Scott leapt 7.40 meters/24 feet 3.50-inches to finish sixth in his flight. Both athletes will compete once more on Saturday, as Williams will take on the field in the shot put while Scott will look to earn a bid to the national stage once more in the triple jump.
On the track, Tyler Brown (Findlay, Ohio-Findlay) finished second in his heat in the 400m dash to qualify to the quarterfinals, which will be tomorrow at 6:15 p.m. The sophomore will have the 16th-fastest time in the quarterfinals after clocking in at 46.54 seconds in the prelims. Warren Witchell (Williamston, Mich.-Dansville) capped off the day with the 10,000m run as he crossed the line in 32:10.52 to finish 43rd.
Three events will have a representative from the Green and White in tomorrow's events, beginning with the high jump at 5 p.m. After the 400m quarterfinals at 6:15 p.m., the evening will end with the 3000m steeplechase at 9:30 p.m. LIve result will be provided through ncaa.com.
