YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Although it has lost two-straight games, the Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team returns to the friendly confines of the Convocation Center Tuesday, Feb. 10, for a rematch with Miami University. The 7 p.m. tipoff will be the second time the Eagles (14-9, 3-7 MAC) and RedHawks (8-15, 3-7 MAC) square off during the 2014-15 campaign. Miami defeated the Green and White on the RedHawks' home court earlier this year, 82-81, in an overtime showdown at Millett Hall, Jan. 10. Eastern led MU by as many as 25, but the RedHawks roared back in the second half to force an overtime period which proved to be enough for Miami to walk away victorious. Exactly one month later, the Eagles are looking to avenge that loss, putting their 12-1 home record on the line Tuesday night at the Convocation Center.

FINDING THE GAME AT HOME: The Eastern Michigan versus Miami contest can be found on 89.1 FM WEMU and Eagle All-Access. Fans can dial into 89.1 FM or listen over the internet to the smooth sounds of veteran play-by-play voice, Chad Bush. Joining Bush on the call will be analyst Assistant Athletic Media Relations Director Sean Hostetter along with executive producer and Assistant Athletic Director Greg Steiner. Coverage of the game on 89.1 will begin at 6:50 p.m.
For those who prefer to watch the game, it will be broadcast on Eastern's live webstreaming service Eagle All-Access. Subscriptions for Eagle All-Access start at just $6.95 and can be purchased at EMUEagles.com/watch. The pregame show and analysis will begin at 6:50 p.m. on Tuesday.

ALL-TIME VERSUS MIAMI: The Eagles are behind in the series with Miami as Eastern trails by a tally of 48-22. While the RedHawks own that cushy 26-game lead in the history of these programs, EMU has won two of the last three times these teams danced on the hardwood, including a victory in the second round of the 2013 FirstEnergy Mid-American Conference Men's Basketball Tournament, March 11, 2013, 58-47.
Earlier this year, however, the Eagles dropped an 82-81 overtime contest to the RedHawks at Millett Hall. Karrington Ward and Raven Lee led the Eagles offense with 18 and 14 points, respectively, but it was the Green and White's woes at the charity stripe that cost the game. EMU shot 67.6 percent from the line, including 16-of-26 in the second half. Eastern led by six with 27 seconds left in the first half and missed 2-of-4 as the RedHawks hit on three-straight shots, including a pair of three-balls to tie the game, sending it to OT.

A LOOK AT THE REDHAWKS: Miami comes into Tuesday's game in a similar boat as the Eagles. The RedHawks (8-15, 3-7 MAC) have dropped three of their last four games, including a one-point, 61-60, loss to Kent State on Saturday, Feb. 7. Eric Washington is the key for Miami. The junior averages 13.9 points, 5.5 assists and 3.3 rebounds per contest. Washington single handedly sent the first EMU/MU contest to overtime earlier this season when he knocked down a pair of three pointers with under 30 seconds to go, including one with just three seconds left on the clock to tie the game at 78.

RAVEN SOARS ABOVE THE REST: Eastern redshirt-sophomore guard Raven Lee showed off his talent Saturday, Feb. 7, versus Ohio. Despite the Eagles falling in the contest, Lee was the story of the afternoon. The Detroit, Mich. native went off for 33 points, which was the first time a member of the Eastern Michigan men's basketball team has surpassed the 30-point marker since Lee scored 38 versus UT Arlington, Nov. 23, 2013. He shot 10-of-20 from the floor, while knocking down 5-of-10 from long distance. It was the first time an Eagle had converted on 10 field goals since Karrington Ward hit 10 versus Coppin State, Dec. 23, 2013. Lee did all of his damage in just 21 minutes of gameplay.

TALLEY TURNS IT ON: Although he has scored over 1,000 points in his career, Mike Talley had never been the go-to scorer and quietly averaged 10-or-more points per game. The senior has lit up the stat sheet as of late, averaging 16.5 points per game to go along with 4.5 assists, 1.5 rebounds and a steal in the last four games. In those contests, the Detroit, Mich. native is shooting at a 48.9 percent clip, while knocking down 5-of-13 three-point attempts. In addition, the redshirt-senior guard has knocked down 17-of-20 free throw attempts, good for an 85.0 percent mark.

NOT WHAT WERE USED TO SEEING: In the last two games, not only has EMU gone 0-2, but what is more alarming is the defensive numbers for EMU. Combined in the Ohio and Toledo games, the Eagles are allowing 80 points per game, while the opposition is shooting at an astounding 49.5 percent clip. In addition, the Green and White is being outrebounded by 6.5 per game. This two game stretch is the first all season that Eastern Michigan has allowed back-to-back teams to score 70-or-more points.

WHERE WE STAND: Although we're past the midway point of the 2015 Mid-American Conference season and we've learned, well, not a lot. There are four teams tied for first-place at 7-3, while a pair sits at 6-4, one is 5-5, one is 4-6, three are 3-7 and one holds a 2-8 record to this point. Eastern is one-of-three teams with a 3-7 record and currently holds the No. 10 seed if the 2015 MAC Tournament were to begin today.

ROAD WOES: Eastern Michigan has not seen its best play on the road this season. The Eagles are just 2-8 away from Ypsilanti, averaging just 61.4 points per game, while allowing the opponent 69.2 points per contest. The Green and White is a team that holds the opposition to a 36.6 field goal percentage. However, away from the EMU Convocation Center, Eastern allows teams to shoot 41.2 percent in shot opportunities.

TIC-TAC-TURNOVER: Eastern Michigan is forcing the competition into 14.8 turnovers per game this season. The Eagles have forced their opponents into 20-or-more turnovers on four separate occasions, including when the Green and White forced Longwood into 24, Nov. 23. The Eagles hold a +3.5 in turnover margin, which ranks as the best in the MAC and 19th nationally. Eastern has been forced into more turnovers than the opposition on just four occasions this season.

TALLEY NAMED MAC WEST PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Eastern Michigan redshirt-senior point guard Mike Talley was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday, Feb. 2. Talley led the Green and White to the sweep of a pair of Mid-American Conference games this weekend. On the back of Talley, the Eagles moved to 3-5 in MAC play after a 76-40 win over Ohio and a 69-63 victory versus Western Michigan. Overall on the week, the point guard averaged 20 points per game, shooting at a 52.2 percent clip, knocking down 4-of-8 three point attempts and missing just one free throw in 13 attempts, good for a 92.3 free throw percentage. In addition, the Detroit, Mich. native averaged 5.5 assists per game, while pulling down two rebounds and stripping the opponent once per game. In the Eagles' win over Western Michigan, Jan. 31, Talley led Eastern with a career-best 24 points, connecting on 6-of-12 from the floor, while knocking down a career-high four three-point baskets.

MILTON TO MURPHY: Eastern Michigan had not seen a coach with a winning record since Milton Barnes led the Green and White from 1996-2000. Barnes had a career record of 62-53 good for a .539 winning percentage. Currently, Head Coach Rob Murphy owns a record of 66-60. He has held a record of .500-or-better since the 2012-13 season when his squad opened the year 5-1 to bring his overall record to 19-19.
