GVSU Schedule
SPIRE Schedule
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — After a successful weekend splitting the team between the Akron and Meyo Invitationals, Feb. 6-7, Eastern Michigan University's men's track and field team will once again divide into two groups for its upcoming meets. On Friday, Feb. 13, members of the team will head to Allendale, Mich. for the GVSU "Big Meet," while another group will trek to Geneva, Ohio for the SPIRE Invitational. The meet at Grand Valley will consist of one day of competition, but the SPIRE Invitational will run through Saturday, Feb. 14.
The Eagles are coming off one of their most successful weekends of the 2014-15 campaign, having had a tremendous turnout at the Meyo Invitational. Amongst the numerous personal records and season bests, the Green and White had four edits to the EMU record book. In a dominant showing in the triple jump, Donald Scott regained control of the national leaderboard with a one-foot improvement to extend his school record to 16.70 meters/54 feet 9.50-inches, which is the farthest mark in the NCAA since 2013. Scott also moved up to sixth on the all-time long jump list, placing third with a leap of 7.41 meters/24 feet 3.75-inches. On the track, Willy Fink joined some elite company in the history of the school's all-time greatest mile harriers, running the ninth-fastest time in program history with a four-second shave off his personal record to cross the line in 4:02.61. Finally, the Eagles' 4x400m relay team of Cameron Bolton, Jeff Elam, Mason Waynes, and Matthew Williams posted the third-fastest time in EMU laurels, winning by a hair over Ohio State's lineup in 3:09.12.
Grand Valley's "Big Meet" will kick off on the track at 11:00 a.m. with the 5000m run, and will have track events contested until the close of the meet at 8:50 p.m. with the 4x400m relay. Meanwhile, field events will start at 2 p.m. with the shot put and long jump, and the final field event starting at 6: 30 p.m.
In Geneva, Friday's slate will start at 2:05 p.m. with the first events of the heptathlon, but most of the track events will start at 5:45 with the 600m run. On the field, the non-elite pole vault is first on the schedule, starting at 5 p.m. Saturday is scheduled for an earlier start time, with the high jump at 10 a.m. while the mile will be contested at 10:30 to kick things off on the track.
