The Eagles play a total of 15 games at Oestrike Stadium this season
2016 Schedule
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University baseball team announced its schedule for the 2016 season, Oct. 28. The Eagles will play a 54-game regular season slate that includes 15 games at Oestrike Stadium. The second season under Head Coach Mark Van Ameyde will kick off Feb. 19 in Georgia.
With the season beginning in the winter months of the year, the Green and White open the 2016 season in the warmer parts of the country with the first 11 games of the season being played down south. The opening series will be played in Lakepoint, Ga. in a three game set against Nebraska-Omaha. The Eagles then make the trek down to Florida for two games against the Florida Gators, Feb. 23-24, before venturing to Tampa to play South Florida, Feb. 26-28.
The Eagles will then travel to the Grand Canyon State for a three-game set against the Arizona State Sun Devils, March 4-6. Non-conference play continues the week after in Dayton, Ohio for the Flyer Classic with games coming against Oakland, Wright State, and the host Flyers of Dayton. The final non-conference series comes down in Tennessee against Lipscomb, March 18-20.
Mid-American Conference play then begins with the first home series against Bowling Green, March 25-27, followed by a weekend trip to Buffalo, April 1-3. Sandwiched between those series is a single game at home against Oakland.
EMU then dips back into non-conference play with games against Michigan State, West Virginia, Valparaiso, Purdue and Michigan. MAC play continues April 15-17 with a home set against Kent State before traveling to Western Michigan the following weekend, April 22-24.
Before welcoming the Chippewas of Central Michigan to Oestrike, April 29-May 1, the Green and White travel to both Oakland, April 26, and Notre Dame, April 27. They then have a home and home with Michigan, with the Wolverines coming to Ypsilanti May 4.
Eastern travels to Muncie, Ind., May 6-8, for a series against Ball State. They then return to the mitten for a special game against Michigan State, May 11. The game will be played at the home of the Detroit Tigers, Comerica Park.
The Eagle's final home series comes against Northern Illinois, May 13-15. They finish the regular season with a road game at Ohio State, May 17, before a final conference series against Toledo, May 19-21.
The MAC Tournament will be played over a span of five days, May 25-29, in Avon, Ohio, with the top eight teams in the conference making the tournament. If the Eagles should capture the MAC title, they will advance to the NCAA Regionals, June 3-5. The 2016 College World Series will take place June 15-22 in Omaha, Neb.
