EMU dropped a three-set match versus Michigan
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team dropped its final match of the 2014 Michigan Invitational Saturday, Sept. 20. The Eagles (8-5) dropped a three set match to the University of Michigan. The Wolverines (5-5) took the three sets, 25-16, 25-12, 25-17. Stacey Perinar was named to the All-Tournament Team for her efforts.
Perinar led the squad with nine kills, while Megan Crawshaw added six of her own. In addition, Jill Briner posted 16 assists along with five kills and 11 digs. Devon Murray and Katie Krasowski each added three kills as well. Defensively, Corynne Smith posted 11 digs, while Natalie Folk added nine. At the net, EMU managed just two total blocks.
Perinar led the Green and White with five kills in the opening set, while Murray and Krasowski each posted a pair. As a squad, the Eagles hit .162. Briner notched seven of her 11 digs in opening frame. Eastern Michigan hit .162, while the Wolverines used a .390 attack percentage to take home the 25-16 decision in the first set.
Crawshaw had three kills on six attempts in set two, while UM took a two set lead with on the back of a 25-12 score. EMU hit just .043, while Michigan used a .393 attack percentage to take the frame.
Perinar returned to form in the third set, with four kills, while Briner and Crawshaw each posted a pair. The Eagles, however, were unable to rally and dropped a 25-17 decision as Michigan hit at a .394 clip to take the match.
Eastern returns to the hardwood Thursday, Sept. 25, when it travels to Central Michigan to open up the Mid-American Conference schedule. First serve is slated for 7 p.m. in Mount Pleasant, Mich.
