ANN ARBOR, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) –
After suffering a heartbreaking loss just hours prior, the Eastern Michigan University volleyball team returned to form Friday evening, Sept. 19, by defeating Youngstown State University in the second match of the 2014 Michigan Invitational. The Eagles (8-4) swept the Penguins (9-5), 25-19, 25-19, 25-23.

Stacey Perinar put together one of the best performances to date. The Channahon, Ill. native rattled off 17 kills, but what was more impressive was her .417 attack percentage. The junior made just two errors on 36 attempts. In addition to Perinar's offensive showing, Devon Murray continued her strong play in the tournament by hitting .312 with six kills on 16 attempts, while Megan Crawshaw added seven kills of her own. Jill Briner continued her stellar play from the setter position with 29 assists and six kills.

Defensively, Perinar showed her versatility by picking up 14 digs, while Corynne Smith added 14 of her own. At the net, Kelsey Jones notched seven block assists, while Katie Krasowski notched six, respectively. Overall, the Eagles held YSU to a .086 attack percentage.

Eastern came away with a 25-19 set one win, riding the play of Perinar who went 7-for-14 without an error. Murray and Crawshaw added two kills apiece, while Briner pitched in with 11 of her assists in the first frame. The Eagles stuffed five of the Penguins attack attempts, including three block assists from both Jones and Krasowski.

Perinar continued strong play coming away with five kills on nine attempts during the second set. Coupled with Crawshaw's four kills, the Eagles cruised to another 25-19 set win. Briner posted 10 assists, while also adding six digs on the other side of the net.

Again, Perinar was the offensive catalyst for the Eagles. The junior outside hitter posted five more kills on 13 attempts. Despite hitting just .093, the Green and White held YSU to a .071 percentage. The Eagles used four blocks to cripple the Youngstown State offense, helping EMU to the 25-23 set win, as well as a sweeping match victory.

The Eagles complete the 2014 Michigan Invitational Saturday, Sept. 20, when they return to Cliff Keen Arena for a match with the host, University of Michigan. First serve is slated for 7:30 p.m. in Ann Arbor, Mich.
