Entering his final season as an Eagle, the strong safety is a team captain for the Green and White
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – As practice continues for the Eastern Michigan University football team, senior Eagles took time out of their busy schedules to join Eagle All-Access for editions of "EMU Football Senior Spotlight," counting down the days until the start of the season. Team captain and strong safety Pudge Cotton (Maywood, Ill.-Walther Lutheran) is featured in today's segment.
Serving as one-of-three team captains, Cotton will be a leader on and off the field for the Eagles throughout the 2014 season. Having played in 29 career games as an Eagle, the Maywood, Ill. native has appeared in every game over the past two seasons, totaling 24 straight contests. The last time he donned the Green and White, he registered a season-best 10 tackles and forced a fumble in the 2013 finale at Central Michigan, Nov. 29.
Cotton makes no mistake that he loves playing on the big stage. He proved that when he burst onto the scene in 2012, returning an interception for a touchdown at Purdue, Sept. 15, 2012, before posting a career-high 14 tackles against Michigan State just one week later, Sept. 22. Later on in the season, he nearly accomplished both previous feats as he picked off a pass and recorded 13 tackles against Kent State, Oct. 6.
With training camp already underway, the Green and White are preparing for an exciting 2014 season. EMU will open its 123rd season on the gridiron with a non-conference home game against Morgan State Saturday, Aug. 30, in Rynearson Stadium. Single game and season tickets are now on sale online at EMUEagles.com, by calling 734.487.2282 or by visiting the EMU Ticket Office daily between 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Single game ticket prices start at just $12 for adults and $5 for youth 12-and-under.
