Chauchard Finishes First Portion of Heptathlon

EUGENE, Ore. (EMUEagles.com)—Eastern Michigan University's women's track and field team had one Eagle compete in the first day of the heptathlon at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships, June 12. At the close of the first four events, 2014 Mid-American Conference heptathlon champion Sarah Chauchard (Montpellier, France-University of Montpellier) sits in 12th with 3,305 points.
The French native had a strong start to the day, notching a personal best in the 100m hurdles en route to a 14th-place finish. Chauchard crossed the line at 14.15 and went on to match her career best mark in the high jump, clearing 1.69 meters/5 feet 6.50-inches for the 10th spot. She continued to perform well, coming close to her career highs in both the shot put and 200m dash. In the shot put, Chauchard recorded her highest individual event finish of the day, taking second with a throw of 12.51 meters/41 feet 0.50-inches. To cap off her first four events, Chauchard was the 18th competitor to cross the line, finishing in 25.84 seconds.
Competition will resume tomorrow, June 13, as Chauchard will compete in the long jump at 12:30 p.m. PDT, followed by the javelin throw at 1:45 p.m. PDT and the 800m run at 4:50 p.m. PDT.
Results from the third day of action at Hayward Field will be available through flashresults.com, while ESPN3 will carry the live broadcast both on television and through WatchESPN.
